Roadhouse Theater
The Roadhouse Theater is an installation that is centered on memories of longing. Participants are invited to enter the shack, sit in theater seats and watch the projected video that loops as the sound of an old projector hums. The story unfolds presenting longing on several levels. The edited video appears to be a singular story, but it is actually comprised of 13 different short home movies from 6 different sources. Smaller art objects reside in the shack, like an old suitcase with a video loop of the sea. Located outside of the shack, there is an interactive station where one can read the correspondence of dead lovers, write a love letter or flip through the “stations” of the Marconi Radio, tuning into a podcast on memory, whispered valentine’s, a music station or a recorded translation of microwaves from the Big Bang. Above all one experiences/ remembers longing.
