Untitled Trunk #6 or I wish I could have met you Henry Wellcome

Untitled Trunk Number #6 is a modified cerulean blue steamer trunk. It stands on 8 spindly wooden legs coated in bee’s wax. Obsolete medical devices tinted with rust are displayed on glass shelves behind a window installed in the left compartment of the trunk. A video loop of open-heart surgery, in which the sea-foam gloved hands of an unseen surgeon pilot a scalpel through a wine dark wake of blood, is obfuscated behind a distorting lens on the face of a medical tin. The viewer must kneel to peer through a keyhole in order to see a collection of glass eyes and dried seahorses concealed in a drawer; or crouch to place her ear on the side of the case in order to better make out a faint heartbeat.
